Evidence-based rehabilitation and consultancy for elite sport
Located at the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance and University of Salford, Dr Chris Bramah combines 15+ years of elite sport rehabilitation with biomechanics research to deliver data-informed strategies for one-off athletes and professional teams alike.

Injury Assessment & Rehabilitation
We provide detailed injury diagnostics and rehabilitation for lower-limb injuries—especially hamstring and calf strain injuries, and tendon-related conditions such as Achilles tendinopathy and proximal hamstring tendinopathy. Assessments combine clinical examination with objective testing (e.g., force-plate assessments and movement/video analysis) to identify the underlying contributors to symptoms and re-injury risk and to inform rehabilitation planning and progression. Findings are translated into a targeted rehabilitation plan with progressive loading, return-to-run/return-to-sport pathways, and re-testing to track progress. Support can be a single consultation to guide your plan, or a full rehabilitation programme delivered with monitoring and review.

Biomechanics Testing & Movement Analysis
Hamstring Biomechanics Testing
Using a combination of 3D motion capture, force plate testing, and expert clinical assessment, this service provides a detailed understanding of individual movement patterns and functional deficits that may contribute to hamstring injury development, recurrence, or delayed recovery.
Unlike traditional strength-based testing, this approach challenges conventional rehabilitation practices by evaluating whole-body biomechanics and function to identify movement strategies and global tissue function that influence hamstring strain and injury.
Developed through over 15 years of clinical practice and published research in hamstring injury biomechanics, this assessment supports the design of tailored rehabilitation strategies for athletes with recurrent hamstring injuries, post-surgical repair, or those looking to inform rehab — aiming to reduce reinjury risk and optimise performance on return.

ACL Biomechanics Testing
Using 3D motion capture, force plate analysis, and isokinetic strength testing, this assessment captures lower limb biomechanics during running, deceleration, and change of direction. Evaluating the ability to integrate physical qualities into task specific movements to identify potential loading asymmetries, compensatory movement strategies, or functional deficits that may increase re-injury risk or delay rehabilitation progress. Developed through applied research and delivered within elite sport, this assessment is used by professional football clubs and rugby teams to inform rehabilitation and return-to-sport decision-making.

Consultancy
Consultancy services for teams, clinicians, and performance departments. Support includes case-specific biomechanical assessments, integration of objective testing protocols, and development of evidence-informed rehab strategies. Each consultancy arrangement is tailored to the organisation’s structure, goals, and operational needs.

Workshops, Speaking & Education
Chris presents at national and international conferences and delivers both lecture-based and hands-on workshops for clinicians, coaches, and educators. Sessions focus on clinical biomechanics, injury rehabilitation, and translating research into real-world practice, supporting evidence-informed learning and practitioner development across disciplines.
